Dr Steffan Eriksson has been working as a doctor in Wollongong for most of the last 17 years with interests in sports medicine, children's health & chronic disease management.
Dr Eriksson has been practicing Medicine for over 20 years. A graduate of Auckland Medical School, he crossed the ditch in 1998 and interned at Wollongong Hospital. He subsequently worked at Tennant Creek Hospital in the Northern Territory for a year before heading to the UK to work for 3 years. He returned to the Illawarra in 2004 taking up an Emergency Registrar post at Wollongong Hospital until 2008. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of General Practitioners in 2010.
Dr Eriksson has a special interest in Sports Medicine. He is currently St George Illawarra Dragons NRL assistant team doctor, and is the Illawarra Hawks NBL team doctor. He is also actively involved in educating local clubs in aspects of sports medicine including concussion.
Dr Eriksson also has a professional interest in psychiatry - having spent 4 years at registrar level in this field - in addition to paediatrics and patients with complex and chronic medical conditions.
When he is not spending time with his young family, he can be found training for his next Powerlifting competition.
