John graduated in 1982, working in the Illawarra for 37 years, 33 years in General practice locally as well as an after hours medical registrar at Shellharbour hospital. He has interests in general medicine, diabetes, cardiology and osteoporosis, and all aspects of general practice. He is a facilitator and GP educator and has admitting rites in medicine in the private hospital. 

His interests are family, gardening, holidays, live concerts and the arts, motor sports and medicine with all the practice families and wonderful people of the Illawarra. He merged his practice from Wollongong to Figtree in 2019 and enjoys the new challenges and interests Crown Medical Figure provides.

Dr Lenehan is well known in the Illawarra for not only his expertise in all aspects of general practice, he is also renowned as being very caring, kind and passionate about all his patients health care needs.
